Dick Traini has served midtown diligently on the
Assembly. He's a proven leader who represents our district well,
providing fair and balanced leadership. Dick's colleagues have
elected him Chair of the Assembly six times. Dick brings diverse
interests together and works out a fair solution. Dick has sponsored
ordinances that accomplished the following:
- Toughest Drunk Driving Law in the United States,
which serves as the model for other Alaskan cities
- Toughened penalties for DUI offenders and those
who sell or deliver alcohol to minors
- City anti-stalking law
- Penalties for person involved in soliciting
prostitution from automobiles
- Tougher penalties for uninsured drivers and
unlicensed drivers
- Laws pertaining to carbon monoxide detectors
in private residences
- Tobacco tax to discourage use by minors
- Law prohibiting minors from being exploited
in "nudie shows"
- Helped establish Youth Court
- Helped establish Midtown Community Council
- Created Anchorage Americans with Disabilities
Act Commission
- Provided for off-leash dog parks
- Abbot Loop Community Park and ball fields
- Led the effort on Elmor road to provide an alternative
to Lake Otis
- Anti-Second-hand smoking law, approved by 75%
of voters
- Abolished the auto emissions requirement for
Anchorage drivers
- Restricted sales of an ingredient used to manufacture
illegal drugs in Anchorage
